Containment with Somatic Experiencing©
Containment is the ability to experience and hold emotions without being overwhelmed or frightened. This practice from Somatic Experiencing© can be supportive for these times by creating a felt-sense of loving-kindness in your body assisting the process of containment.
If you’re not noticing any shifts in the body that are supportive, or if it feels uncomfortable to engage with this practice, know that that’s perfectly normal. An invitation to do as much as feels doable and right for you. Building a sense of safety within ourselves and/or widening our capacity for safety is an ongoing practice that works best with grace and patience for your unique experience.
